What's this about surgery? A wheelchair?

Both of you had better be well in time for the Summit. I intend to Represent fully, yo.

After my father-in-law came to visit us in Scotland in January, I sent him back to the Bay Area with the beginnings of the same disease that had me laid up for two weeks. Given population density, incubation periods, and rate of infection, the timing sounds about right for you to have caught the dreaded "Scottish Cold".

Oops. Sorry. You'll feel better in about two weeks, though!

Christina,
take care and get well soon.

I had stress related illnesses written all over me most of 2002 (and 1998,1999,2000 and 2001 for that matter).
I'm much better now thanks to my decision to seek professional advice.

Philippe's now followed me into the land of flu. Fever, headache, nasuea, sore throat, sneezing, coughing (I ache in my midsection from it) aches... I'm trying to figure out at what point does one run to the doctor? I'm still misraeble, but no longer completely out of it-- I thinking I'm heading towards getting better but still so sick.

Not the kind of hot you want on Valentine's Day. You two hang in there and get well!

CW, if you need anything just holler. About when to see the doctor, I think if it's been going on for a week, at least call to see if you can talk to a nurse to assess what's going in. It may sound like a typical flu, but if it's pneumonia or bronchitis, that may need some good medication. If your mid-section hurts from coughing, at least from my personal experience it turned out to be pneumonia.*

"midsection hurting from coughing"...

muscle pain?

Just wait until you've done so much coughing that the bottom-most set of ribs start to feel like they've fractured themselves. In reality they're only attached by cartilage, which can become badly inflamed, and it really hurts, to the point of it being painful to breathe.

On a lighter note - if you've been under the dred lurgy for more than a few days, go see a doctor for some antibiotics. Although the lurgy is primarily viral, it does weaken you and secondary infections can set in. These are usually germ based, not viral.

Hey there,

If it's what's had me and mine down since mid Jan., go to your doctor and get the goods. Cough syrup (the one with the codeine in it) so you can sleep and they have this cool new something-cillin which seems pretty mild and goes in 5 days.

Do it. I hate antibiotics as much as the next guy, but if it lasts more than a week I can tell you it's liable to hang in there... though you probably don't have Day Care re-blasting your house every few days...

pneumonia, definitely something to watch out for. We had it last fall. Prescription cough syrup really helped me get some sleep. Hope you're not dead yet.
