slavish devotion to the rules

damn, this is an abuse of the bold tag.
Usability Professionals: Stay Prepared for Business Waves

I know you've read and memorized Jakob's column on how people skim and don't read but use some common sense! This is nearly unreadable. It's like I'm telling you a story and SHOUTING every third WORD!

graf snarf grumph.

Here's my opinion:

The author should've removed all the text between the bold, made it into complete sentences, and then just published that.

If you just read the bold text, then read the entire article, you don't get anymore value from the second pass.

Then she could've just put the entire thing into bold...

It's too bad, with the UPA's vast membership, that they couldn't find a single article that was written specifically for usability professionals. They had to hire some headhunter-type (who probably never heard of usability before they contacted her) to write a generic "how to find a job" piece and insert "usability professional" into the "[put profession here]" spaces.

Jared

disclaimer: UPA & I have different perspectives on the world. I'm known to be more critical than the average member... (In case you couldn't tell.)

Christina,

I think you meant to say:

"graf snarf grumph."
