anyone have time to help me build the css layout of the page? I'm really stuck.
, from oldest to newest:
I've come across several already released blog management systems, and the one that's getting most of the praise is PostNuke (at postnuke.org). They seem to have a rather large support base and so you shouldn't have too much trouble installing it. I don't use it myself, but perhaps you'd like it.

Why didn't you ask me for CSS help whilst I was there? I would have been happy to assist!

I too just discovered movabletype.org and want to try it out. it looks like it has all the things I am yearning for in my site publishing system but don't have in greymatter.
it is supposed to be out next week...

david: because I'm fishing for someone to just build it for me, like a pathetic weasle, and i've already giving you a big enough asignment for the SECRET PROJECT!
meir: is there a list with reviews of the blog management programs? I'm just leaning toward moveable type because it does everything i want and is in perl.

Pardon in advance if this is all obvious.
For specific features not found in greymatter default, you might find what you're looking for in the hacks/mods repository. But the larger picture is that Noah is not working on it anymore(4th question in faq). So perhaps a transition to moveable type is just the ticket - certainly has a great looking admin interface.

John: thanks for the tools link, but I really wanted one with reviews, as I said. I'm curious about people's experiences with the various tools. I fear the css link isn't helpful either. I've been hanging around the many fine websites, and I've got two lovely books, but I just can't quite get my head fully around it, and thought if I saw an example... well, it's probably a sign that I should stick with tables. at least I know them like the back of my hand, and I do know they are stable cross plaform, and they will do all the liquid tricks I need.
or I'll suddenly get "the flu" and stay home in bed for two days sorting it out. It's hard to learn somethign when you only get a few hours here and a few hours there on it. sigh.
Nate: I do hang out on the greymattter message board (under the nom de plume Madam Sarrazin, for giggles) and many of the hack and mods I need are not available or stable. Of course we have yet to see what type will bring. And of course Noah's no longer working on it is some cause for concern...

OK Christina, I've taken the bait!
I've done a quick-and-dirty attempt at a CSS layout for you (you might want to tweak things by a few pixels here and there to get them exactly where you want them). It works in IE5+, Opera 5 and NN6 on Win (not checked Mac). The layout is resizable and looks OK as low as 640px wide.
Check it out at www.campanile.uk.net/eleganthack/ and see the comments in the CSS file.
Hope this helps.

There sure is a site with reviews. Those type of scripts are called CMSs (content management script) and you can find reviews of such scripts in all scripting languages in hotscripts.com - just search there for content management scripts under whatever programming language your host supports.
