10/24/2001 "and where the heck have you been"

So, it's excuse time... I haven't gleaned, I haven't blogged, what have I been doing?

Well, other than "real work,"

I'm working on a secret project. more later...

I did usability testing for Movable Type, and will be writing up results and getting it to them this week. Many people have asked me why I did this for free. Well, two reasons. One, I like these crazy kids with their dream of a good free blog tool (I've got an open source heart). Two, I got to test some of my theories on usability testing. Again, more later...

Carbon IQ had an anniversay party. Two! Can you believe it???

I went to Big Sur for my birthday. Thank you, husband.

I signed a book deal. more later.

damn I'm happy these days.

I think this will be my best year ever.

, from oldest to newest:

But would you resent us if we *tried* to make money :) You know what they say about Hello Kitty templates.

Seriously, we were very fortunate to receive the gratis services of Christina and Carbon IQ. I can't begin to describe how much we learned from the process.

I look forward to working again with them in different capacities. :)

I'm into practice through play. That means that before I use some technique/widget/whatever with a client, on a project I'm getting paid for, I try it out in a situation with more freedom - like playing.

This applies to user research, design and evaluation. I'm more comfortable trying new things when I'm volunteering or doing my own projects...

Hey Xina: Happy belated Birthday to you! I'm truly happy things are working out for you with work and home--lord knows you work hard enough to make all this happen. ;) Continued bliss to vous et hubby.
