New Architect likes Information Architecture
from New Architect: Intuition at Work and Information Architecture "this slim volume takes the reader through a series of exercises and scenarios that aim not so much to explain how to design IA, but how to think about IA so that the resulting designs are the right ones. Wodtke introduces such concepts as archetypal personas, controlled vocabularies, sitepath diagrams, and user-centric design, all using fun, plain English that's easily accessible. Backpack Material
from deepContent.weblog "Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web (IABW) contains more of the how-tos and examples that are still in short supply elsewhere. This is the kind of material I learn best from--things other people have done, good and bad. ... I have taken to carrying Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web around in my backpack, along with The Elements of User Experience, and that is not something I do with every book I take a liking to." Snap it up!
I talk extensively about Snapfish in Blueprints for the Web. Mike Monteiro was my partner in design on the Snapfish project when we worked at Hot Studio. He went on to become creative director at Snapfish, finishing the work we started together, and taking it even farther. He's now kick-started his own design firm, and you can visit Mule Design to read about the Snapfish story. Posted by christina at 08:56 AM

Boxes and Arrows reviews Blueprints
Boxes and Arrows: Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web "Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web is, essentially, a primer on successful website design. Unlike the many dense manual-like books on the topic, the straightforward, accessible, and often funny prose of Wodtke's book makes it an effortless read. Novice IAs will find good ideas and techniques flowing into their heads, while experienced designers will find themselves nodding theirs in agreement. " |
